One of the best parts of summer in the north is the arrival of the bluebirds and hummingbirds. Having wintered in warmer climes, they make their way north arriving hungry and looking for nesting places to rear their young.
Start putting out mealy worms for the blue birds before they arrive and provide a nearby nesting box for your best chance at encouraging them to stick around.
Place a hummingbird feeder filled with nectar in a nearby tree and the hummers will entertain you all summer. Having two hummingbird feeders usually works best to prevent serious food battles among these territorial little darlings.
